Live Video of the Day: "This May Be" (Timothy Bloom)


Timothy Bloom dropped "The Budding Rose EP" back in March of 2011 and since it dropped, the buzz for Bloom had been growing, especially since the visual for "'til The End Of Time" hit. With that said, Bloom then went onto tour with Ledisi during her then first headlining tour and one of the joints off of his EP and which he'd been performing was "This May Be." Sonically different from his buzz single,"This May Be" shows the diversity in Blooms work and really has my interests peaked as to what a full length album from him will sound like. Either way you feel, check out Bloom performing "This May Be" below as we all await more new music from the budding crooner!

Every once in a while there comes a long a classic song that will forever live on and sometimes even eclipse's the artist who crafted the tune. In my opinion, Lenny William's sublime "Cause I Love You" is one of those exemplary classics and what makes him and this song even better is that his live rendition is even better then his phenomenal recorded opus. Grammy Award winner Joe Simon is noted as being one of the major male artists in R&B/Soul music during the late 60s through the 70s and while he eventually decided to retire from R&B and dedicate his vocal prowess to Gospel music, the last single of Simon's to chart is the emotional ballad "Are We Breaking Up." Bandy's lead single from "Two Eleven," "Put It Down" is definitely a grower at radio and on the charts as she just recently cracked into the Hot 100 with her Chris Brown assisted single even though it had been released for a minute. With that said, with my first few listens, I wasn't totally feeling the joint either but Brandy won me over with this joint a few months ago and just did the same thing with my close friend who won't stop singing Brandy's latest hit.  With that said, Brandy's "Put It Down" deserves a playback for those who might've missed appreciating this joint the first time they heard it. I've posted Ledisi's aw inspiring rendition of the jazz standard "My Funny Valentine" quite a few times but it never gets old to me and I often find even more intricate and phenomenal vocal techniques from Ledisi every time I view her sublime cover. With that said, below you will find a video of her covering the icon song during "Soul of Rogers" a few years back and in true Ledisi fashion she knocks this song out the park and beyond. Ledisi is truly a rare talent who can literally cross over to any genre of music and own it with the same conviction that we've become accustom to hearing from her all this years. Dwele's new album "Greater Than One" was released today and his standout LP features a lot of new joints but one of the highlights from the set for me has to be his smooth joint "Obey." Artist News: Frank Ocean set to perform on VMAs and SNL


Frank Ocean's debut album "channel ORANGE" is one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2012 thus far and along with all the buzz from the album and Ocean as an artist, the famed crooner has nabbed a performance slot at both this year's MTV "VMAs" as well as on NBC's "Saturday Night Live." While Ocean is nominated for Best New Artist, Best Male Video and Best Direction at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, he is now set to take the stage September 6th live at the Staples Center in Downtown LA. Following his VMA's performance Frank Ocean is now also slated to perform on SNL's 38th season opener episode on September 15th.
