On April 29th, 1983, Whitney Houston made her national television debut on The Merv Griffin Show two years ahead of her self-titled debut album after recently signing to Clive Davis' Arista Records. With that said, the young and then unknown Whitney Houston decided to introduce the world to her talents by performing the spirited number "Home" from The Wiz.
