Back in 1975, Labelle released their fifth album Phoenix and while the LP was a moderate hit, peaking at #44 on the Pop charts and #10 on the R&B charts, it offered a sonic departure for Labelle as they experimented a little more with rock sensibilities. With that said, earlier today I was watching Lee Daniels' The Paperboy and during the film, the cut "Take the Night Off" from Labelle played during one of the scenes and I was instantly reminded of this classic cut from the trio.
