Remix: "V.S.O.P." (K. Michelle ft. Rick Ross)

K. Michelle's "V.S.O.P." is the song that has nine lives or something because it's been out for so long on radio and digitally, but it keeps on building momentum, even though she is getting ready to release her follow-up single in "Can't Raise A Man" from her sublime debut album Rebellious Soul.

With that said, earlier today, I woke up to seeing that Rick Ross has now jumped on a remix to "V.S.O.P." Featured on the second, of a potential three official remixes from K. Michelle, with artist-on-the-rise August Alsina planned for the third remix, K. Michelle is currently putting the finishing touches on her forthcoming Rebellious Soul Tour, which kicks off next week on November 4th in San Francisco.

Second Listen: "Any Time, Any Place" (Janet Jackson)

Janet Jackson's "Any Time, Any Place" has been gaining a lot of reinterest as Kendrick Lamar's hit single "Poetic Justice" riffs off of this sublime Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis crafted banger.

Remix: "Free" (Rudimental ft. Emeli Sandé & Nas)

Last week, Rudimental released the official music video for their sixth single "Free," which is lifted from their latest album Home and while I was a bit unfamiliar with the quartet, I've been getting more and more into them since discovering their Emeli Sandé collaboration.

With that said, during my process of getting to know them better, I stumbled upon their recent remix to "Free" with the assistance of Nas. Taking their original collaboration with Emeli Sandé up a notch, take a listen below to the Nas assisted remix to "Free" and Enjoy!

Live Audio: "Love Won't Let Me Wait" (Luther Vandross)

Back in 2003, Luther Vandross released his first and only live album Live at Radio City Music Hall 2003 much to the adoration of his fans. While Lutha's vocals are so crisp and soulful on record, his live vocals take it to another level.

With that said, his set from that night included his riveting cover of the Major Harris classic "Love Won't Let Me Wait" and as always, Luther had the crowd going with his signature crooning. Take a listen to Luther's riveting live vocal performance of "Love Won't Let Me Wait" below and Enjoy!

Trailer: "Life is But a Dream" (Beyoncé)

My friend Cleyana is a huge Beyoncé fan and on her birthday, King B decided to release a trailer for her forthcoming DVD Life is But a Dream, which will feature her HBO documentary in addition to a live concert film.

With that said, the trailer for her upcoming November 25th two-disc DVD of Life is But a Dream also teases a new song from Beyoncé entitled "God Made You Beautiful" and with a purchase of the DVD, fans will get an exclusive download of the song.

While rumors of the upcoming new era for Beyoncé have been swirling about a new single being released towards the end of the year and her highly anticipated fifth studio album seeing release towards the top of 2014, Life is But a Dream seems to be the last rollout under the 4 era. Maybe "God Made You Beautiful" is the beginning of her highly anticipated next musical steps.... Either way, peep the trailer below for Life is But a Dream and lookout for the DVD when it arrives November 25th.

New Video: "Right There" (Ariana Grande ft. Big Sean)

Ariana Grande has selected previously released buzz single "Right There" as the official third single to be lifted from her #1 debut Yours Truly and has just released the official music video to accompany her Big Sean assisted joint.

Featuring a Romeo & Juliet influenced video, which co-stars Patrick Schwarzenegger as Romeo, Ariana's perfectly planned video lands the day before Halloween and with her different guest dressed up in in a variety of costumes, I am sure it will inspire a few last minute partygoers.

With that said, watch Ariana Grande's new video for her Big Sean assisted joint "Right There" below and Enjoy!

Amazing Cover: "Try A Little Tenderness" (Amber Riley)

**Reposting this because I can hahaha and this cover from Amber Riley truly never gets old in my book. I want to see her do this live ASAP**

Since Amber Riley is currently rocking it on ABC's Dancing With The Stars, I thought it would be appropriate to revisit one of her amazing covers from her time on FOX's Glee, where she was sadly underutilized.

With that said, I haven't heard an Amber Riley cover I haven't liked and if nothing, her time on Glee proved that Amber is definitley one of the most gifted vocalists currently in the industry and hopefully after Dancing With The Stars, we will hear some original music from Ms. Riley.

Amber's voice is so soulful and powerful that she garners attention whenever she covers a record. With that said, listen to Amber's amazing cover of the Otis Redding classic "Try A Little Tenderness" below. Though several artists have remade this song in the past few years, Amber's is my favorite by far. Her gospel soaked pipes fit perfectly for the song.

Listen below and Enjoy!

Second Listen: "With You I'm Born Again" (Billy Preston & Syreeta Wright)

Back in 1979 Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright released their duet single "With You I'm Born Again," which was lifted from the soundtrack of the motion picture Fast Break.

Written by Carol Connors and David Shire, "With You I'm Born Again" became international hit for the duo, reaching #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on the AC chart. Overseas, "With You I'm Born Again" peaked at #2  on the UK Singles Chart and became the biggest pop hit of Syreeta Wright's career.

With that said, take a second listen after the jump to "With You I'm Born Again" and Enjoy!

Live Clip: "Diamonds" (Laura Mvula)

I haven't heard much for Laura Mvula in a few months, she recently took home two awards at the 2013 MOBO Awards for Best Female Act and Best R&B or Soul Artist. With that said, her debut album Sing To The Moon is one of my favorite albums that has been released this past year and is a standout debut album, probably my favorite of the year.

Since she is coming to Los Angeles tomorrow to open for Iron & Wine, I thought it would be appropriate to watch her phenomenal performance of "Diamonds" from her recent appearance on WFUV radio. Watch her powerful live rendition of "Diamonds" below and Enjoy!

Live Audio: "If You Don't Know Me By Now" (Patti LaBelle)

Back in 1985, Patti LaBelle released what would become her last album with Philadelphia International Records and the standout joint from 1985's Patti in my opinion was Patti LaBelle's sublime live recording cover of the Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes' "If You Don't Know Me By Now."

Take a listen to her amazing live 1982 cover of "If You Don't Know Me By Now" and Enjoy!

Live Video of the Day: "Come See Me" (Jill Scott)

During Jill Scott's recent Vh1 Storytellers, the Grammy-winning Philadelphia songstress performed her cut "Come See Me," from her third LP The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3.

Offering a play on academics to set the tone for this rendition, Scott and her band knock it out the park on this and the guitar rifts will really get you to feeling something. Peep Scott's sublime performance of "Come See Me" below and Enjoy!

Song of the Day: "Don't You Forget It" (Glenn Lewis)

"Don't You Forget It" - Glenn Lewis

  • Peaked at #30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #10 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks

Playback: "Calls" (Robert Glasper Experiment ft. Jill Scott)

Since the Robert Glasper Experiment released their second LP Black Radio 2 earlier today, I thought it would be appropriate to revisit the set's lead sing;e, the Jill Scott assisted joint "Calls."

While the set boats a lot of great collaborations, including my personal favorites the Brandy assisted "What Are We Doing" and Emeli Sandé collaboration "Somebody Else," "Calls" was an instant classic in my book and boats a phenomenal vocal showing from Scott as well as some great lush instrumentation from the likes of Glasper and crew.

With that said, take a playback below to "Calls" and if you haven't checked out Black Radio 2 yet, go out and support this bomb follow up to Glasper's critically acclaimed and Grammy-winning Black Radio.

Amazing Cover: "What You Won’t Do For Love" (Jessie Ware)

Featured on the deluxe edition of her debut album Devotion, Jessie Ware's cover of the Bobby Caldwell classic "What You Won't Do For Love" is a solid interpretation of this iconic joint.

In the following video, Jessie offers up a dope acoustic performance that gives a different vibe/rendition of the 1978 classic. Watch Jessie's solid performance of "What You Won't Do For Love" below and Enjoy!

Cut: "Is It Because I'm Black?" (Syl Johnson)

With the whole Barney's racial profiling scandal entering into mainstream media's attention since it was first reported late last week, I thought it would be appropriate to revisit this classic cut from Syl Johnson.

Back in 1970, Syl Johnson released his sophomore album Is it Because I'm Black? and the title track would go onto because one of his biggest hits to date. Peaking at #11 on the Best Selling Soul Singles,

Johnson wrote the title track in response to the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and it still resonates loud and clear today. With that said, Syl Johnson's legacy still lives on through this powerful cut and you can take a listen to "Is it Because I'm Black?" below!

Second Listen: "Cherish the Day" (Robert Glasper Experiment & Lalah Hathaway)

With the release of Black Radio 2 today, I thought it would be appropriate to revisit Robert Glasper's Grammy-winning LP Black Radio, which features a who's who in music today, just as its followup Black Radio 2 does.

With that said, my clear favorite from the first LP in the Black Radio series has to be the Lalah Hathaway assisted take on the Sade classic "Cherish the Day." Therefore, take a second listen below to Lalah Hathaway and Robert Glasper Experiment's amazing collaboration on Sade's "Cherish the Day" and Enjoy!

A Cappella: "Scared Of Beautiful" (Brandy)

Last night, Brandy took to TwitMusic to release the a cappella rendition of her Frank Ocean penned ballad "Scared Of Beautiful," which is featured on her latest release Two Eleven.

While a lot of people did not take note of Brandy's sublime sixth studio album Two Eleven, hopefully the release of this phenomenal a cappella rendition of "Scared Of Beautiful," which finds her vocals isolated from the original track will drum up some buzz on her album as Grammy nominations are slated for release in just a few weeks.

Either way it might turn out, take a listen to the a cappella rendition of "Scared Of Beautiful" via Brandy below and Enjoy!

Live Video of the Day: "The One" (Tamar Braxton)

Tamar Braxton is currently on tour with John Legend supporting her sophomore album Love & War and while she is in New York City for a two-night stint at the Beacon Theatre, she stopped by Vh1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

During her time on the show, Tamar of course offered up a solid acoustic performance of her single "The One," which served as the second official single lifted from Love & War. With that said, watch Tamar coo "The One" out below and if you haven't checked out her latest album Love & War yet, it's worth a listen or two!

Amazing Cover: "You Make Me Feel Brand New" (Boyz II Men)

Back in 2004, Boyz II Men released a covers album entitled Throwback, Vol. 1 and one of the many gems from the overlooked project was the trio's take on The Stylistics' "You Make Me Feel Brand New."

The Philly Boyz reinterpret this classic joint while still infecting it with what we as listeners have come to know and love about the Boyz II Men sounds. With that said, take a listen below to their take on "You Make Me Feel Brand New" and Enjoy!

New Video: "Bed Peace" (Jhené Aiko ft. Childish Gambino)

Jhené Aiko and Childish Gambino share a bed in the official visual for their joint "Bed Peace," which is a riff on the iconic photos and clips of  John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Bed-Ins for Peace protesting the Vietnam War.

With that said, Jhené's seven track EP "Sail Out" is slated for release on November 12th and features collaborations with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Vince Staples and Ab-Soul.

Watch the official video for "Bed Peace" below and lookout for "Sail Out" when it's released towards the middle of next month!

Live Audio: "Feel Like Making Love" (D'Angelo)

I was creating a video for class earlier today and came across this solid live audio from D'Angelo in the process of searching for videos. Featuring on the mixtape 'D'Angelo Live,' "Feel Like Making Love" is the ninth cut lifted from his 2011 set.

Featuring a variety of recordings that were compiled together into one seamless set and mixed by the capable hands of Sam Champ, you can take a listen below to "Feel Like Making Love" as we all eagerly await D'Angelo's forthcoming third studio album.

A Cappella: "Amazing Grace" (Destiny's Child)

During an episode of Disney Channel's Smart Guy, Destiny's Child guest starred on an episode and performed a phenomenal a cappella rendition of the gospel hymn "Amazing Grace."

The then quartet recorded an a cappella version of "Amazing Grace" on their sophomore album The Writing's on the Wall, and it is clear that the original line-up of Destiny's Child truly worked vocally as their four part harmonies sound impeccable during this live a cappella rendition on Smart Guy. Watch their performance below and Enjoy!

New Video: "Chase Forever" (Jaheim)

This past Friday, Jaheim released the third official visual lifted from his "comeback" album Appreciation Day, which was released earlier this year. Following the release of singles "Age Ain't A Factor" and "Baby 3x," Jaheim has selected the album's last track "Chase Forever" as the third single from Appreciation Day.

Directed by Derek Blanks, who also served at the help for Jaheim's "Baby 3x," this black-and-white visual for "Chase Forever" finds the famed crooner caught in a love affair and you can see how it turns up by peeping the official video below!

Second Listen: "Woman to Woman" (Shirley Brown)

Had to bring this joint back as me and my homegirl J were grabbing a late dinner and drinks last night and the reference to this classic joint came up during our hilarious conversation.

Though often duplicated or reinterpreted by other artists such as the Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia duet "I'm His Only Woman," Brown's "Woman to Woman" is the original. Intended for Inez Foxx, who eventually turned it down, Brown's "Woman to Woman" peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart and is noted for being the last big hit for Stax Records.

With that said, Shirley Brown is probably best known for this classic old-school jam and you can take a second listen below to the classic "Woman to Woman"

Live Video of the Day: "Dance Apocolyptic" (Janelle Monáe)

Last night on NBC's Saturday Night Live, Janelle Monáe was the featured as the musical guest and instead of opting to perform her current single "PrimeTime," Janelle decided to perform her album The Electric Lady's second single "Dance Apocalyptic."

Featuring her phenomenal band and background singers, Janelle lit up 30 Rock with the passion and fire that few performers have these days. Watch her rock it out to "Dance Apocalyptic" below and Enjoy!

"Love Train" - The O'Jays

  • Producers: Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff

Set: "Live in New York (1991)" (Patti LaBelle)

One of the greatest divas of all time Patti LaBelle recorded her first live video special back in 1991 at the world famous Apollo Theater and during her set, she belted out a mixture of classic hits, standards, and some then new favorites from her discography.

Entitled Live in New York, Patti blew the roof off of the legendary building with sublime renditions of "New Attitude," "Somebody Loves You Baby (You Know Who It Is)," "You Are My Friend," "Lady Marmalade" and of course her famous rendition of "Over the Rainbow," in addition to many more.

With that said, as you relax on this Sunday, revisit this legendary set from the Phoenix of Philadelphia, Ms. Patti LaBelle below and Enjoy!

Cut: "I've Been Searchin' (Nobody Like You)" (Glenn Jones)

While Glenn Jones may not be a familiar name now, Jones was a famous crooner from back in the 80s and mid-90s who is probably best remembered for his title-track Here I Go Again, which went onto peak at #1 on the R&B charts.

With that said, the set's second single would go onto be "I've Been Searchin' (Nobody Like You)" and this smooth 90s joint would go onto peak at #8 on the R&B charts and while it is a forgotten cut, you can revisit it below!

New Video: "Wild Things" (Mali Michael)

While I am unfamiliar with Mali Michael, I came across his new video for his joint "Wild Things" last night and thought I would share the chilling visual for the song with you.

Citting Terence Trent D’Arby, Massive Attack and Prince as influences, Mali Michael is an artist to watch as we close out 2013 as his blend of futuristic soul is something worth getting a closer listen to. With that said, peep his erie visual for "Wild Things" below and get to know Mali Michael a bit better.

Remix: "My Everything (Ahmed's Ballad Remix)" (Lalah Hathaway)

Lalah Hathaway's latest studio album 2011's Where It All Begins was a solid effort from the famed songstress and during the release of her album, she held a remix contest and Ahmed Sirour crafted a beautiful remix to her uptempo joint "My Everything."

Opting to slow the pace down a bit on "My Everything (Ahmed's Ballad Remix)," this ballad remix of Lalah's joint "My Everything" really allows her vocals and the words to take center stage in a way that wasn't accomplished in my opinion on the original.

Why this didn't win the remix competition is unbeknownst to me, but this is a dope remix that warrants several listens and the free download that Ahmed has generously provided for casual listeners. With that said, take a listen below to "My Everything (Ahmed's Ballad Remix)" and Enjoy!

Live Video of the Day: "Electric Lady" (Janelle Monáe)

Janelle Monáe served as the musical guest earlier tonight on NBC's Saturday Night Live and during her second performance, she opted to perform a solo rendition of her Solange duet "Electric Lady," which is lifted from her recently released LP The Electric Lady.

Armed with a full band, that included a full horns section, Janelle belted it out for the crowd gather at 30 Rock and proves why everyone is still talking about her sublime album The Electric Lady. With that said, watch Janelle's performance of "Electric Lady" below and Enjoy!

New Joint: "Our Party" (Jesse Boykins III)

Jesse Boykins III is back with his official followup to his summer EP "P.O.P. (Purpose or People)" with a solid new joint "Our Party," which riffs on the music of both Janelle Monáe and Alicia Keys.

Sampling Janelle Monáe's "What An Experience," which is the closing track off the standard edition of her new album The Electric Lady, Jesse also incorporates some lines from Alicia Keys'  #1 hit single "No One" into a solid smooth joint from the rising singer/songwriter. With that said, take a listen to "Our Party" below and if you like what you hear, cop the free download while supplies last!

Project in the Works: "Call Me Crazy, But..." (Sevyn Streeter)

Sevyn Streeter has been on her writing grind having written hits for the likes of Chris Brown, Ariana Grande, Tamar Braxton and Kelly Rowland and now she is taking her own step into the spotlight with the forthcoming release of her EP "Call Me Crazy But..." which is set for release on December 3rd.

Featuring her Chris Brown-assited hit single "It Won't Stop," Sevyn Streeter will be promoting her album as the opening act for K. Michelle's forthcoming The Rebellious Soul Tour, which kicks off November 4th in San Francisco.  With that said, Sevyn has just released the official album cover art and tracklisting for her upcoming EP and you can peep the tracklisting below.

As one of the most in-demand songwriters in the game right now, Ne-Yo has been busy in the studio working with the likes of Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Rihanna and Celine Dion on material for all of their forthcoming albums.

With that said, Ne-Yo helped craft a duet for Celine Dion in the form of "Incredible" and the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter double billed himself as he accompanied her on the track that is lifted from her  Now he teams up with upcoming November 5th album Loved Me Back to Life.

Therefore, go behind-the-scenes of the making of their "Incredible" duet" below and lookout for her album Loved Me Back to Life, when it's released towards the top of next month on November 5th.

Cut: "Do I Stand A Chance" (Patti LaBelle)

Back in 1977, Patti LaBelle released her debut self-titled solo album Patti LaBelle and one of the standouts from her early set has to be the emotional ballad "Do I Stand A Chance."

Co-written by LaBelle, Budd Ellison, Armstead Edwards, "Do I Stand A Chance" is one of those joints that only diehard Patti LaBelle fans are aware of as it's such a deep cut in her discography, that it is often forgotten by fans.

With that said, take a listen after the jump to the sublime cut "Do I Stand A Chance" and Enjoy!

Second Listen: "For Real" (Amel Larrieux)

Back in 2005, Amel Larrieux released her album Bravebird and the first single "For Real" from her sophomore effort was co-written and produced with Laru Larrieux.

Though it peaked at #45 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, "For Real" is one of the standout joint from Larrieux's discography and you can take a second listen after the jump!

Live Clip: "Never Would Have Made It"/ "You Are My Friend" (Patti LaBelle)

Several years ago Patti LaBelle took to Montclair, NJ for a one off concert and during her phenomenal set, the Phoenix of Philadelphia took to a sublime medley of the Marvin Sapp hit "Never Would Have Made It" and her own classic "You Are My Friend."

I was luckily in attendance and was able to capture a portion of her sublime performance before security told me to put my camera way. With that said, watch a live clip of Ms. Patti LaBelle belting out this spirited medley and Enjoy!
