Cut: "Gotta Get Up (Another Day)" (Jill Scott ft 4Hero)

In honor of Ms. Jill Scott's birthday today, I thought it would be nice to revisit some of my favorite joints from her throughout the day.

Back in 2001, Jill Scott released her live double album Experience: Jill Scott 826+ and while the set is best known for her live renditions and the single "Gimme," my favorite joint from the bonus studio LP has to be her 4Hero assisted joint "Gotta Get Up (Another Day)."

While the song was never released as a single and Ms. Scott has not performed it live to my knowledge, the song has such a necessary meaning and a dope beat to accompany it. With that said, take a listen to "Gotta Get Up (Another Day)" after the jump and Enjoy!

Cut: "Missing You" (Jill Scott)

Jill Scott's The Light Of The Sun is still in heavy rotation at my crib and I can't wait to add her forthcoming Lullaby album to the fold in addition to her upcoming fifth studio album. While fans like me eagerly await the release of new album from the poetic mind of Jilly from Philly, I thought it would be appropriate to revisit one of those cuts from The Light Of The Sun.

Featured on 2011's The Light Of The Sun, "Missing You" was produced by JR Hutson and features that grown-and-sexy vibe and bpm that gets us grown folk feeling a type of way. With that said, after the jump you can (re)visit Scott's "Missing You" and hopefully within a few months we will be rocking to some new music from Ms. Jill Scott!

New Video: "Back Together" (Jill Scott)

Where have I been... because Jill Scott released a poignant video for her latest single, "Back Together," this past Monday and the video is both powerful and breathtaking.

Lifted as the latest offering from Scott's fifth studio album WOMAN, the video for "Back Together" features Donna Vaughn, the principal dancer in Disney's Broadway musical production The Lion King along with the Complexions Contemporary Ballet ensemble.

Opening with Donna traversing the busy New York City street inundated with her own varied thoughts, she is seemly transported through a mental breakdown into a space of hopelessness that evolves into hope.

With that said, watch Ms. Jill Scott's powerful video for "Back Together" below and Enjoy!

Live Video of the Day: "Strange Fruit" (Jill Scott)

This past Friday, A&E along with several other broadcast channels air the telecast of Shining A Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America.

While there were several solid performances, Jill Scott by far and wide offered the performance of the night with her spine-tingling rendition of "Strange Fruit," made famous most notably by Billie Holiday.

Instead of trying to mimic Holiday's rendition of "Strange Fruit," Scott offered her own interpretation that brought a tear to my eye and hears at the end. With that said, take a few minutes to truly embrace Scott and her powerful moment on "Strange Fruit."

Cut: "When I Wake Up" (Jill Scott)

Back in 2011 after a four year gap between studio albums, Jill Scott released her fourth studio album The Light of the Sun to rave reviews at her first Billboard Top 200 chart topper.

While the set's singles lit up a variety of charts, the cuts from The Light of the Sun are just as, if not more impressive in my opinion and one of my favorites has to be "When I Wake Up."

Produced by both Scott and JR Hutson, "When I Wake Up" is one of those improvisation records from the album that truly highlights the brilliance of Scott both lyrically and vocally as well as sets a nice chill mood.

Take a listen below to Scott's cut "When I Wake Up" and if you haven't checked out her latest album WOMAN, it's definitely worth a listen!

Second Listen: "Born Again" (V ft. Jill Scott)

Back in 2006, Jill Scott's background singer V dropped a smooth debut album entitled Revelation Is Now Televised, that featured the duet "Born Again" with the talented Ms. Scott.

Though Jill spits some poetry towards the end of the song, "Born Again" is a great showcase for V's talented vocals and songwriting ability. Take a second listen to the "Born Again" after the jump and Enjoy!

Amazing Cover: "He Loves Me (Lyzel In E Flat)" (Lianne La Havas)

Like myself, Lianne La Havas was captivated with Jill Scott's sublime debut album Who Is Jill Scott?: Words And Sounds Vol. 1 and during a special rendition of Candid Cover on Billboard Sessions, Lianne performed a solid rendition of "He Loves Me (Lyzel In E Flat)."

While no one really owns this song in my book besides Jill Scott, Lianne La Havas offers a brilliant interpretation of "He Loves Me (Lyzel In E Flat)"and you can watch her beautiful cover of it below!

Live Clip: "Run, Run, Run" (Jill Scott)

This past Thursday, Jill Scott brought her brand of soul to ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live with a riveting performance of her joint "Run Run Run," which is lifted from her #1 album WOMAN.

While "Run Run Run" isn't currently a single from WOMAN as "Back Together" was recently serviced to Adult R&B radio stations, it's a great throwback feeling classic uptempo soul song that Jill just knocks out the park.

With that said, watch her riveting performance of "Run Run Run" below and if you haven't gotten her latest album WOMAN yet, it's worth the price, trust me!

Live Audio: "The Way" (Jill Scott)

Back in 2008, Jill Scott released her second live audio LP Live In Paris and the first cut off of the album is the reworked thumping "The Way." Though originally a smooth mid-tempo joint, Scott and her band infect some funk and rock into this classic.

With that said, take a listen below to her live take on "The Way" as we all eagerly await the release of both Jill Scott's lullaby album as well as her fifth studio album, which will be the followup to The Light of The Sun.

Live Video of the Day: "Come See Me" (Jill Scott)

As we close out the night, which happens to also be Jill Scott's birthday, I thought it would be nice to revisit one of the highlights from her 2012 Vh1 Storytellers special.

With that said, during Jill Scott's 2012 Vh1 Storytellers, the Grammy-winning Philadelphia songstress performed her cut "Come See Me," from her third LP The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3. Offering a play on academics to set the tone for this rendition, Scott and her band knock it out the park on this and the guitar rifts will really get you to feeling something.

Peep Scott's sublime performance of "Come See Me" below  and Enjoy!
