Second Listen: "Superfly" (Curtis Mayfield)
Gotta take it back to Curtis Mayfield's "Superfly" as it's such an iconic and classic joint. Released as the second single from the soundtrack to the blaxploitation film "Superfly" back in 1972, the title track is one of those classic 70s soul joints that has been repeatedly been sampled including the likes of the Beastie Boys' "Egg Man", The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Ready to Die Intro", and Nelly & Christina Aguilera's "Tilt Ya Head Back." The soundtrack would go onto become one of soul music's landmark records, and the "Superfly" single is one of those cold joints that never gets old and has a thumping bass line that always fits the mood. Take a first, or hopefully second listen below to Curtis Mayfield's "Superfly" and Enjoy!
