While Whitney Houston easily offers the best vocal performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" in its original composition form, the most soulful and powerful interpretation of our national anthem for me, and a lot of others hands down goes to the legendary Marvin Gaye.
Having been asked to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" during the 1983 NBA All-Star Game, Marvin put his own soulful spin of our country's national anthem in a way that only his legendary and soulful pipes could allow.
