Second Listen: "Nasty Girl" (Vanity 6)
Last night during Fantasia's tour stop in Los Angeles, her background singers treated us to a sublime rendition of the classic Vanity 6 joint "Nasty Girl" and the entire audience went craxy.
Back in 1982, Vanity 6 released the second single from their self-titled debut album Vanity 6 and the 80s charged song was no other than "Nasty Girl." Written and produced by Prince for his protégé girl group Vanity 6, Prince gave the songwriting credit to lead singer Vanity, although he was the writer and composer.
Backed by The Time, due to the song's explicit lyrics, "Nasty Girl" was met with resistance on mainstream American radio, peaking within the U.S. Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart. It did however become a sizable hit on U.S. R&B radio and it hit number hitting #7 on the Hot Black Singles chart. Take a second listen to "Nasty Girl" after the jump and Enjoy!
