Project in the Works: TLC Biopic

Fans of the group TLC have been waiting for years for a biopic of some sort to materialize on the trio's rise to fame and the battles they faced as a group and as individuals throughout their career. With that said, Vh1 has released word that they are working on just a biopic with screenwriter Kate Lanier ("Beauty Shop") and Chilli and T-Boz serving as consultants and executive producers. Though no casting choices or timeline was given as to when the biopic will likely air, Jeff Olde, EVP Original programing & Production for Vh1 released the following statement.

"With the tremendous success of our scripted series 'Single Ladies,' we now know that viewers will come to VH1 for quality scripted projects. We're eager to expand on that success with this bio-pic franchise that will allow us to explore our music, pop culture, and authentic storytelling strengths in yet another format... We're honored to collaborate with Chilli, Tionne, and Bill Diggins in sharing their own personal story and TLC’s record-breaking legacy with VH1 viewers."

With that said, it would appear likely (dependent on the script and casting) that a late 2012/ early 2013 release wouldn't seem like such a far stretch. Either way it ends up lookout for more updates as the project rolls into production.
