Artist News: Jill Scott Settles with Hidden Beach
Neo-Soul diva Jill Scott and her record label have reached a settlement in their lawsuits over their original recording agreement. This suit which was filed last year by Hidden Beach had them claiming unspecified damages for money lost when Scott allegedly failed to fulfill her contractual obligations. Scott then countersued, due to her legal right to terminate her recording contract with Hidden Beach Recordings under California’s 7-year rule. However the case has taken a turn for everyone involved as lawyers for Hidden Beach have filed court papers with Judge Ruth A. Kwan, stating that the case was resolved and that all terms were kept private. This news means that Scott's heavily awaited album new album "The Light of the Sun" should drop sometime this year. Hopefully her signing on to headline the Essence Music Festival means that the album should drop sometime before summer.
