12 Years a Slave not only has a star-studded cast, but the accompanying soundtrack seems to be shaping up to have a who's who in music with the likes of John Legend, Gary Clark Jr., Laura Mvula and Alicia Keys to just name a few.
With that said, Alicia Keys offers up an emotionally tinged performance on her mid-tempo ballad "Queen of the Field (Patsey's Song)." Engaging with the tale of Patsey, one of the supporting characters in 12 Years a Slave, who was born into slavery and the struggles she faves to survive, Alicia Key's heart-wrenching tune is one of the many powerful songs included on the official soundtrack to the Oscar bait film.
