Before Whitney Houston transformed "I Believe In You and Me" into a hit power ballad from The Preacher's Wife soundtrack, The Four Tops recorded the ballad and released it as a single in 1983. While it failed to make headway on the Billboard Hot 100, it became a moderate R&B hit for the group on the peaking at #40 on the Hot Black Singles chart in early 1983.
