Vh1's famed series "Divas" seems to be getting a much needed facelift this year with a new focus of soul music. Entitled "Vh1 Divas Celebrate Soul," the music roaster already trumps last year's "VH1 Divas Salute The Troop" with confirmed performances by vocal powerhouse divas Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Florence + The Machine, Kelly Clarkson and Jessie J. Designed to honor soul music and some of the famous cities that helped craft the genre, these divas are sure to bring it though I can only hold out hope that the likes of Ledisi, Adele, Fantasia, and Erykah Badu might be added the the already star-studded roasted to help acknowledge other cities that have been instrumental in Soul.
While no word has been made on the final line-up of stars, I am sure that the Queen of Soul Ms. Aretha Franklin will be involved in some form as well as the addition of other powerhouse legendary soul divas such as Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle to name a few. Time will tell how the final line-up ends up, but VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul premieres Monday, December 19 at 9 p.m. ET/8 CT on VH1 and will take place at New York Cities's famed "Hammerstein Ballroom."
