A Cappella: "Gimme Shelter" (The Rolling Stones ft Merry Clayton)

Back in 1969, The Rolling Stones were recording their eighth studio album Let It Bleed and during the recording sessions for "Gimme Shelter," The Rolling Stones brought in Merry Clayton to perform the powerful background and duet vocals with Mick Jagger. Bonnie Bramlett was originally intended to sing the part, but Bramlett was not available, possibly because of illness.

With that said, Merry Clayton was pregnant at the time and singing so hard on her solo part possibly contributed to the miscarriage she had the day after the session. Therefore, take a listen below to the isolated vocals of Mick Jagger and Merry Clayton and Enjoy!

A Cappella: "Gimme Shelter" (The Rolling Stones feat. Merry Clayton)

With 20 Feet From Stardom taking home the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature this past Sunday at the 86th Annual Academy Awards, I though I'd take it back again to this amazing a cappella version of The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter."
