Amazing Cover: "Yesterday" (Marvin Gaye)

Marvin Gaye's cover of The Beatles' "Yesterday" is one of my top five recorded covers of all-time and that is probably I post it so much because with every listen I hear something new/different. With that said, during our current situation here in the States with the police brutality happening in Ferguson and the murder of Mike Brown, the song has take on another meaning for me.

Recorded at the top of 1970 for his tenth solo studio LP That's the Way Love Is, Gaye's cover of "Yesterday" from his Tamla set is one of those joints that can easily get stuck in your head.

Though his amazing cover of The Beatles' "Yesterday" is tucked away in his expansive discography, Marvin's take of this classic really brings it up a few notches in my opinion with his soulful delivery.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ U.S. debut performance, Lauryn Hill  took to CBS's Late Show with David Letterman this past February to pay tribute to the Fab Four with a sublime performance and cover of the groups Abbey Road classic "Something."

While Ms. Hill has winding down her tour, hopefully 2015 proves to be the year for the long awaited followup to Lauryn Hill's 1998 classic album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Either way it turns up, it's great to see the eight-time Grammy winner, back out there performing.

With that said, watch Lauryn Hill's performance of "Something" below as we celebrate The Beatles and their incredible legacy in music.

Live Clip: "She Came Into the Bathroom Window" (D'Angelo)

After roughly 12 years since performing last in the US, D'Angelo made a surprise appearance last night/ earlier this morning at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival where he was originally billed as the "very special guests" during this year's "Superjam." With the assistance of select members of Parliament Funkadelic, The Time and The Roots, Questlove brought back the somewhat elusive singer to the stage for a 90-minute set that featured an abundance of sublime covers. With that said, the first one to hit the net was D'Angelo's and the crew's sublime rendition of The Beatles' "She Came Into the Bathroom Window" and you can peep it below!
