Project in the Works: "Black Nativity" (Jennifer Hudson)
Jennifer Hudson has been making a transition back into acting with her forthcoming appearance in NBC's "Smash" and she has now started rehearsals for her forthcoming 2014 feature film "Black Nativity," which also co-stars Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Jacob Latimore. With that said, below you will find pictures of Jennifer Hudson around a piano with Angela Bassett singing several of the songs from the forthcoming musical in addition to a picture of Jacob Latimore dancing and rehearsing.
Written and directed by Kasi Lemmons, "Black Nativity" is a retelling of the classic Nativity story with an entirely Black cast that was originally written by Langston Hughes and appeared off-Broadway in 1961.
While it is currently slated for a 2014 release, it would be great if this tale was out towards the end of 2013 to help usher in the Christmas holiday. Either way it turns out, peep JHud's photos from rehearsals below and as always, I'll keep you posted!
