While different biopics are in different stages of development including one on Mahalia Jackson, Teddy Pendergrass, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, and Marvin Gaye, one of the biopics in the work seems to be making a step in the pre-production process as the Miles Davis film now has a director attached to direct. Director George Tillman Jr whose credits include "Soul Food," "Men of Honor," and the 2009 Biggie biopic "Notorious" has now been brought aboard to help helm the forthcoming biopic which is based on the book "Dark Magus: The Jekyll and Hyde Life of Miles Davis" by Davis' son Gregory Davis. While stars and a production schedule haven't been released yet, Anthony Mackie would be my top choice to portray Davis in this forthcoming biopic.
