Though it was rumored last month when it was announced that Jordin Sparks would star in the remake of "Sparkle," that Whitney Houston was attached to star as her mother, it has now been confirmed that the vocal legend will join Jordin Sparks on the remake to the 1976 film. Though a reboot of the film was in the works during the early 2000s with Aaliyah attached to star, Sparks and Houston should bring some much needed starpower to kick this film into high gear. Depending on how filming goes, I can only imagine it being slated for a Fall (2012/2013) release in hopes of attracting Oscar buzz.
On a side note, whatever happened to the planned film "Getting To Happy,"which is the sequel to Houston's successful film adaptation to "Waiting To Exhale."
