Album in the Works: D'Angelo

According to Billboard, soul singer D'Angelo is back to work on his long awaited followup album to his sophomore album "Voodoo." The eleven plus year album in the making seems to finally be shaping up as a studio session appears to of taken place in New York City several days ago with longtime collaborators, ?uestlove and bassist Pino Palladino. Word hit the net earlier when ?uestlove took to twitter to inform his followers
"Most people use midnight as a time to sleep. others are working on their 11 year followup. this of course being hour number one."
With that said, the album which might still be titled "James River," is tentatively scheduled for an end of the year release through J Records, though according to Billboard, a source has informed  the, that it could be released in the early part of 2012 depending on how the sessions turn out.

According to Billboard:
The new project has been plagued by long breaks in recording and other delays, and many collaborators have come and gone. Last year, producer Mark Ronson told Billboard.com he was about to hit the studio with D’Angelo, but it is unknown if any of his work will make the final cut. Prince, Raphael Saadiq, John Mayer, Cee Lo Green and Roy Hargrove have also been mentioned as contributors at various times during the process.
With that said, time will tell how D'Angelo's forthcoming album turns out, but due to his known artistry, I am sure the the album will be worth the wait.
