Amazing Cover: "Giving Up" (Aaliyah)

While the remake of the cult classic "Sparkle" starring Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston is currently in theaters, Aaliyah was originally pegged to star in the remake with Houston and she recorded an amazing cover of the Donny Hathaway classic "Giving Up" for the project before her tragic death. With that said, this cover showcases off Aaliyah's amazing vocals and proves that her vocal prowess hadn't even peaked at her tender age of 22. Take a listen below and Enjoy!

Cut: "Quickly" (John Legend featuring Brandy)

While John Legend and Brandy are both putting the finishing touches on both of their respected forthcoming albums, I thought it would be appropriate to revisit their collaboration on Legend's "Evolver." Entitled "Quickly," their duet which was my favorite cut from Legend's 2008 third album and though it never received the single's treatment, I would still love to see the two of them perform this live one day. Second Listen: "Love Will Find a Way" (Kenny Lattimore & Heather Headley)

Originally recorded for and released from Disney's "The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride," "Love Will Find a Way," eventually found it onto Kenny Lattimore's 1998 album "From The Soul Of Man" where it gain even more visibility. With that said, this duet with Heather Headley is a rather forgotten musical gem and it's worth a first or second listen below!

Rare Performance: "I Don't Hurt Anymore" (Dinah Washington)

Sadly there are only a few live performance of the legendary Dinah Washington's online and one of my favorites (out of the limited selection) has to be her performance of the Hank Snow joint "I Don't Hurt Anymore." Originally recorded by Snow and Washington in 1954, the below rare performance showcases Ms. Dinah Washington belting out what would become a number 3 seller for her on the R&B charts. Live Audio: "Live in California 1987" (Whitney Houston)

The wealth of Whitney Houston material that has been unreleased is mind-blowing and while fans of The Voice, including myself, will have to wait to see what her estate decides to release in the coming years, several of her fans have been uploading live audio performances from the late Diva. With that said, today's live audio selection comes from Houston's 1987 concert tour stop in California where she performed a rousing set that including "How Will I Know," "You Give Good Love," "Saving All My Love For You," a cover of Luther Vandross' "Never Too Much," "Didn't We Almost Have It All," and her infectious joint "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." New Joint: "You & I" (Avant featuring Keke Wyatt)

Avant and Keke Wyatt are back with another collaboration and after joking last week on TV One's "R&B Divas" about how she is mainly known as 'that chick who sings with Avant," Mrs. Wyatt is back singing with the man that "put her on." Either way you feel about that, you can't deny that Avant and Keke Wyatt have vocal chemistry and that it's nice to hear Keke on some new records as her vocals are crazy. With that said, take a listen below to Avant's duet with Keke Wyatt entitled "You & I" and lookout for Avant's forthcoming LP "Face The Music," when it's released at the top of 2013!

Live Video of the Day: "I Need A Dollar" (Aloe Blacc)

I was just recently telling a friend of mine that it had been a minute since we've heard some new music of Aloe Blacc. With that said, Blacc was making moves  in the UK and last year and during his UK takeover, the noted crooner performed at set at last year's Glastonbury. Of course, Aloe blacc performed his breakout and signature song "I Need A Dollar" much to the adoration of the crowd. Watch his funky performance below and Enjoy!

It's been almost three weeks since Anita Baker released her "comeback" single "Lately," and I thought it would be a perfect time to offer a playback of her smooth joint. Though  it was originally a hit for Tyrese back in 1999, when the then up-and-coming crooner co-wrote it with Derek Allen, Baker's classic smooth jazzy vocals adds another layer to this classic joint in my opinion and you can take a playback to it below!

With that said, I have just recently finished reading a sublime book about the late genius "If You Can't Be Free, Be a Mystery: In Search of Billie Holiday,"by Farah Jasmine Griffin that any fan of Holiday's or even an avid music fan should check out.
