Cut: “I Found Love (When I Found You)" (The Spinners)

Back in 1977, The Spinners released their Atlantic LP Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow and while this LP is not considered as commercially or critically successful as the majority of the groups' prior albums,  one of the gems featured on this LP was "I Found Love (When I Found You)."

Sampled by Musiq Soulchild a few years ago for his joint "Soulstar," "I Found Love (When I Found You)" is one of those classic soul cuts from the 70s that warrants a listen below!

I recently rediscovered DJ Apt One's sublime remix of The Spinners' classic "I'll Be Around" and while we get into the last day of Janurary, I thought it would be appropriate to revisit this jam cause good music is the perfect way to ease back in.

Back in 1972, The Spinners released their destined classic "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love" following the tremendous success of their joint "I'll Be Around."

Both lifted from their Gold selling album Spinners, "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love," is probably the lesser known of the two hits, but is one of my favorite joints from The Spinners.

Peaked at #1 on the Hot R&B charts in 1973, the song proved to be a commercial and critical hit for the band and deserves to be included on anyone's playlist of classic 70s songs and is a great joint to add to a Valentine's playlist in my opinion.

Written and produced by the Spinners go to crew Thom Bell and Linda Creed, the song was inspired by Bell's son, who was teased for being overweight and Thom Bell wrote the song to make his son feel good about himself.
