Remix: "I Wanna Be Down" (Brandy ft. Mc Lyte, YoYo & Queen Latifah)

Reliving some of the best of 90s R&B today on my Friday playlist and I thought I would revisit with y'all the official remix to Brandy's smash classic single "I Wanna Be Down," which was originally lifted from her self-titled debut album Brandy.

Featuring Mc Lyte, YoYo and Queen Latifah, "I Wanna Be Down (Remix) flipped the Keith Crouch produced joint and was serviced to radio and TV stations in '95 after the original was already a certified hit. Speaking with Vibe about the remix is 2012, Brandy had the following to say:

"The hip-hop remix meant the world to me... I'm fresh out of the box and these superstars are a part of my first single! They are my mentors and I looked up to them. I was a huge Queen Latifah fan. I'm thinking, ‘Oh my God…I can't believe this is happening to me.' I got the chance to vibe with all three of them. They embraced me as a little sister. I was one of the first R&B artists to welcome hip-hop onto an R&B beat. It had never been done before quite like that[...] I knew it was a special record."

With that said, let's re(visit) the official remix for "I Wanna Be Down" below and Enjoy!

Live Clip: "I Wanna Be Down (Remix)" (Brandy, MC Lyte, YoYo & Queen Latifah)

Yesterday the telecast of BET's Hip-Hop Awards aired and one of the standout moments from the show was the twenty year reunion of Brandy, MC Lyte, YoYo, and Queen Latifah as they performed their remix to Brandy's breakout single "I Wanna Be Down."

Proving that Black don't crack, Brandy, MC Lyte, YoYo, and Queen Latifah all rocked the BET Hip-Hop Awards 2014 and truly put it down in my opinion on this live performance.

Watch it all go down as Brandy, MC Lyte, YoYo, and Queen Latifah bring back our 90s nostalgia with their performance of "I Wanna Be Down (Remix)" and Enjoy!

Live Video of the Day: "Like This" (Ledisi)

Earlier today, The Queen Latifah Show welcomed Ledisi to their stage as Ledisi continues to promote her recently released album The Truth and during her time on Queen Latifah's daytime talk show, Ledisi performed a riveting rendition of "Like This."

Selected as the official second single from Ledisi's sublime The Truth LP, Ledisi wailed out on "Like This," especially towards the end and continues to prove why she is one of, if not the most underrated artists in the game right now.

It should come as no surprise that she's performed at the White House over seven time and has eight Grammy nominations and hopefully The Truth will net her her first win next year at the 2015 Grammy Awards as it really is a sublime body of work.

With that said, watch Ledisi's powerhouse performance of "Like This" below and if you're in LA like I am, I will hopefully see you tonight at Ledisi's The Truth Tour concert happening at Club Nokia!
