Cut: "The Ghetto" (Donny Hathaway)
In 1970, Donny Hathaway released his debut album "Everything Is Everything" and one of the standout tracks from his debut effort has to be his thumping joint "The Ghetto." Co-written by Hathaway and Leroy Hutson, the six-minute-and-fifty-second thumper socially conscious joint became a moderate hit on the charts peaking at #87 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #23 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart. Regardless of hits moderate success, "The Ghetto" is one of those cuts from Hathaway that never gets old and is forever relevant in my book. With that said, take a listen to "The Ghetto" below and soak in his testimony!
