During the 1998 Academy Awards Aaliyah took to the stage to perform the nominated song "Journey To The Past
," which she sang on the "Anastasia
" soundtrack. While the performance lacked the thrills of a normal stage performance, the understated nature of her performance really allowed her still maturing vocals to take center stage. With that said, watch her powerful performance below and Enjoy!
I have to say that she started off super rocky and didn't really get into it until about the 1:40 mark. You could tell she was super nevous. I think that was the first ballad I'd seen her perform. I also think it was the first time she wore a dress to an event.
