Amazing Cover: "A Song For You" (Whitney Houston)

Though Leon Russell originated the song and Donny Hathaway in my book has the definitive version of "A Song For You," it's Whitney Houston's live cover of the song that really gets at the core of the song for me. Lifted from her "Welcome Home Heroes" special back in 1991, Houston lets into the song like no one else can and shows off why in her prime she was known as simply The Voice. Rare Performance: "Un-Break My Heart" (Toni Braxton)

Back in 1997, Toni Braxton took part in "Songs & Visons," a tribute show to music where several of the top artist of the decade sang the greatest hits of the previous 40 years. The show went backwards in time from 1996 to 1956 choosing one song per year and of course Braxton's iconic hit "Un-Break My Heart" represented 1996. With that said, peep her sublime performance below of "Un-Break My Heart" and Enjoy!

Second Listen: "Gotta Go Golo" (Patti LaBelle & Ron Isley)

Patti LaBelle and Ron Isley came together to record one of my favorite duets in recent history entitled "Gotta Go Solo." While casual listeners and some fans of both of these legends have overlooked "Gotta Go Solo," it's such a great contemporary song that plays on the Mr. Big persona as well as offers up solid vocal showings from both LaBelle and Isley. I've been jamming out to Gary Clark Jr.'s debut Warner Brother's LP "Blak and Blu" that was released last week and while I posted a playback to "Ain't Messin 'Round" last week, I think people aren't taking note of Gary Clark Jr.'s talents and this brotha has been jamming for years. With that said, I thought it would be appropriate to take another playback to the lead single, "Ain't Messin 'Round,"  from his solid Warner Brother's effort "Blak and Blu." Amazing Cover: "Baby I Love U" (PJ Morton featuring Ledisi)

Ledisi and PJ Morton recently collaborated on the Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack duet "Baby I Love U" and luckily for fans of both of these gifted vocalists, their duet is still on the net. Produced my PJ Morton, Ledisi's and Morton's vocals harmonize perfectly together and the sparing instrumentation really allows their voices to take centerstage. Second Listen: "Fire and Desire" (Rick James & Teena Marie)

"Fire and Desire" by Rick James and Teena Marie is easily one of my top ten duets in music history. Besides the vocals being off the charts, the passion between these two can be felt even through the mechanical reproduction of their recorded duet. Arranged, composed, and written by James, "Fire and Desire" is one of those cuts from Rick's 1981 concept album "Street Songs" that still lives on classic Soul radio. Wiley recently achieved his first #1 hit in the UK with his joint "Heatwave" and due to his elevated profile, the UK legend was invited to perform on Radio 1′s Live Lounge and perform a cover of his choice. With that said, Wiley choice to perform Angel's hit single "Wonderful" with the assistance of Skepta, who added a new verse to Angel's hit. Back in 2002, Norah Jones released her debut album "Come Away With Me" to tremendous critical and commercial acclaim, netting Jones 5 Grammy Awards and selling over 26 million copies worldwide. With that said, the last single released from her set was "Turn Me On" in late 2003 and while it did not chart here in the states, "Turn Me On" is one of those gems in Jones' discography and you can take a listen to it below!
